About Finland tax
Finnish income tax is split between state and municipal levels. The state (valtionvero) uses a progressive scale starting at 12.64% from €19,900 and reaching 44% above €85,000. Municipal tax (kunnallisvero) is flat at your municipality's rate — Helsinki charges 18%, Espoo 18%, Tampere 20%. Employee social contributions add roughly 7.15–8.65% of gross (pension, unemployment, and health insurance combined).
Finland also collects a public broadcasting fee (Yle-vero) of up to €163/year from earners above €14,000, and an evangelical church tax of around 1–2% for members. Non-church members avoid that final charge by resigning via eroakirkosta.fi.
